The Bookseller’s Son
I like to think of my fifth novel as "The Lion King in a Bookstore."
Jeremiah Malone grew up working in his parents' bookstore in the Ozark mountains in the 1960s. The bookstore and his parents are famous for fighting to stop book bans. When they retire and the bookstore is threatened, Jeremiah must decide if he will continue the fight for free speech.
The Bookseller's Son is about legacy, courage, and who gets to decide which voices will be heard - and which voices will be silenced.
"A book that every American should read , especially now that books are banned in certain quarters and free speech is being questioned daily." - Romuald Dzemo, Readers' Favorite 5-stars
"The prose itself is beautiful to read, and the plot is gripping. I strongly recommend this book to anyone who loves a book that goes deeper than surface level as it examines the things that makes us human." - Andrea Ramirez
Jacob Martin’s life is not going well. His marriage is falling apart, his job is on the border of legal and illegal, and he’s living in what could generously be described as a dump. Now Dad, whose memory and mental faculties aren’t exactly what they once were, has decided to drive from Cincinnati to Colorado for a surprise visit. At least that was the plan, until John got lost along the way. Forced into an unplanned road trip to retrieve his father, Jacob finds love, enlightenment, and ultimately himself along the way.

In his first novel, Bob Seay pits tribalism, anger, and hate against diversity, acceptance, and compassion while reminding us that everyone is doing the best they can. Written in 2020, The Band Room is more relevant today than it was when it was written.
